Agri Business Events and Forums

This event is held in November and recognizes area farmers and producers for their hard work and the important role agriculture plays in the Nebraska economy. Annually over 700 community members come together and enjoy live entertainment, good food, and raffles.

Each year this event raises money through the raffles and offers two scholarships that are given out to local/area seniors that will be going onto college in an agricultural field of study.

Sometimes the best way to understand a complex system is to compare it to other systems that we already understand. Green Cover Seed co-founder, Keith Berns, did just that in his Carbonomics presentation where he compared the economy of a country to the underground economy of the soil.

Green Cover talked about how principles like supply, demand, currency, capital and infrastructure all apply to the soils under our feet and how a properly functioning soil system is a powerful and robust economic system.

AFAN Forum

AFAN, Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska, is an alliance of leading commodity organizations in Nebraska working together to advance livestock development within the state. They provide individual livestock producers with the tools and resources necessary to locate, modernize or expand their operations in the state.

Steve Martin, Executive Director of AFAN, spoke about opportunities to expand our agriculture industry. Discussion focused on what we can do to position Hastings and Adams County for growth of our value added agriculture sector.

4-H Auction

Supporting youth in Agriculture. The 4-H Livestock Auction is your opportunity to show support for local agricultural youth who represent future leaders and customers in Adams County and whose parents do business with you today! This action also includes Adams Central FFA. All money goes directly to the exhibitors. All bids are a premium bid paid directly to the 4-H or FFA exhibitor. You are not purchasing the animal.

Even if you can’t attend, you can still help. We would love to have you participate in the excitement of the auction. But, if you cannot join us, the Chamber Ag Committee will handle your bids, or if you prefer to make a general donation to underwrite expenses or support the auction as a whole, we would appreciate your help. If you wish to remain anonymous, your donation will be added to a “Friend of 4-H” fund for auction support.

Good Business Advertising. We make sure your name is prominently announced at the auction, as well as in all promotional materials. No doubt, people will know that you are a supporter of Agriculture in Adams County. If you purchase a Champion animal, you will have your picture taken with the exhibitor and their project.

Your dollars stay here, helping local youth. The 4H and FFA members have invested a lot of time and energy with their animals. By participating in the auction, you can reward their efforts demonstrate your interest in nurturing the future of agriculture here at home.
